To keep you well informed on safety matters, the Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) issues crime alerts whenever DPSS leadership determines a reported crime to be an ongoing or continuing threat to the university community. These alerts are distributed via:
- Email automatically sent to all U-M Ann Arbor students, staff and faculty
- Email to subscribers (see instructions below)
- DPSS website
- DPSS Twitter page
- Fliers posted around campus
If you are not an active student, staff or faculty member and wish to receive crime alert e-mails, please send a message to crime.alert.request@umich.edu with the subject “Crime Alert Notification Request” and include the e-mail address you wish to use.
In the past five years, DPSS has issued an average of 15 crime alerts each calendar year. Most are for crimes reported in nearby off-campus areas.
